While initiatives do exist for building STEAM skills among school and higher education learners, the development of these skills among adults still remains a challenge. 4th ALIEN consortium meeting hosted by Hanoi University, Vietnam 4-6/12/2019

The 4th consortium meeting of project ALIEN took place in Hanoi, Vietnam. The meeting took place on December 4-6 and was organized by the University of Hanoi. During the meeting the partners had the opportunity to discuss the deployment of project outcomes, and specifically the ALIEN PBL labs that have been developed at the Asian universities and the digital PBL platform within courses and broader learning activities in their engineering departments and schools. In addition, a transnational instructor training event was organized in which instructors from Vietnam, Pakistan, and Greece practiced problem-based learning activities by competing on building durable bridges with basic materials, namely spaghetti and adhesives. The activity was widely enjoyed by the audience and provided them with ideas on how to liven their classrooms through problem-based learning design.…

Connection with the University of Malaya, Malaysia 16/10/2019

On October 16, 2019 project ALIEN was presented to the students of the Technology in Education course of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. During the presentation there was a skype connection with the University of Malaya in Malaysia, a partner in the ALIEN project. The students had the opportunity to see the problem-based learning lab built at the University of Malaya through ALIEN and to reflect on the benefits of problem based learning.
