The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE), and specifically the Creative Technologies Learning Lab research group (http://ctll. e–ce. uth. gr) develops digital tools for hybrid learning. The tools are implemented in the framework of the research project VIE: Virtual Presence in Higher Education Hybrid Learning (http://projectvie. (eu) funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and running from 2021 to 2023. The tools aim to meet the expanded needs for flexibility in learning planning that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic. They complement existing digital learning services, such as educational content management platforms, offering remote collaboration capabilities.
On February 2, 2023, an event was held in the DECE computer laboratory with the participation of more than 30 students of IEK Dimitra accompanied by their professors as well as by the head of the Volos branch of IEK Dimitra Mr. Dimitris Tsoutsoulakis. Students of various specialties had the opportunity to see the functionality of digital tools and then use them to design solutions related to green production and consumption Food.
In addition to the University of Thessaly, research project VIE involves educational organizations from Estonia, Portugal, Romania, Finland, and Spain.
