The seventh meeting of the Erasmus+ project “Increasing Inclusion of Low-Skilled Adults through Informative Thinking – Computational Seniors” was to discuss how we will test the project’s open educational resources.

The Creative Technologies Learning Lab organised a Masterclass on Game Design and Development on May 22, 2025. The class was organised within project DigitCreche, which promotes innovation in the creative industries in the Western Balkans. On 22nd of May 2025, we held the 1st Greek National Steering Committee (NPC) of the COMPutational Seniors project. The meeting took place online as it contained people from all around Greece. The committee contains six people, one pedagogic expert from the University of Thessaly in Volos, two experts from the Helenic Open University in Patras, one expert from the University of Crete in Heraklion and two members of the Educational Authorities for the Region of Magnesia. During this session, we presented the Computational Seniors project and the initial version of our Open Educational Resources (OER) in English and Greek to the group.We are very grateful for the time invested by our NPC members and look forward to our next meeting!

As part of the Computational Seniors project, we are entering a key phase: Testing the open educational resources we have developed to support the integration of computational thinking into adult education. During June, we will carry out the pilot phase of our training modules, and we are looking for adult educators who are interested in exploring new methodologies and innovative teaching approaches. We are especially keen to involve educators who work with adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, as one of our main goals is to promote more inclusive and accessible education. The consortium held the monthly meeting to continue advancing the development of the Open Educational Resources under WP2. The coming months will be key, as the consortium will begin testing these materials with adult trainers across different European countries.

Did you know that computational thinking is being integrated into schools, but not into adult education? COMPseniors aims to change that by supporting the integration of computational thinking into adult learning programs, especially for those with fewer opportunities.

During the online meeting, the consortium talked about the LTTA content and progress, as well as the first newsletter development that will be prepared by Future Learning.

The abstract submitted by the COMPseniors project, titled “Computational Thinking for Low Qualified Adults Education: Challenges and Implementation Process”, has been accepted for presentation at the 15th edition of the Future of Education International Conference, organised by Pixel. The 15th edition of the Future of Education International Conference will take place online on June 25, 2025, and onsite on June 26–27, 2025 at the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo Congress Center in Florence, Italy. It will provide a space to share COMPseniors’ work on computational thinking in adult education for low-qualified learners with an international audience. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Thessaly (DECE), and specifically the Creative Technologies Learning Lab research team (http://ctll.e-ce.uth.gr), is coordinating a new research action that harnesses the power of biomimicry — the practice of learning from nature to solve human challenges — to promote innovation in vocational education and training.
